'Performance of Maenads is a performance work, explored digitally through the means of moving image. In itself the work deals with action as a basis for performativity and abstract story-telling whilst dealing with the implications of gender and body politics. The title of the work refers to the female followers of the Greek God Dionysus in reference to the complete absence of any male figure or performer in the work as well as the cultish expression of the performance itself.'

This outcome works well and I am satisfied with it as the outcome of my project. It successfully digitalises a performance and has layers that combine moving image, installation and performance. I found that looping was a good way to add back a sense of ongoingness that the original footage had, but in a less linear way. This also allowed me to overcome the issue of not being able to reshoot the final hand performance despite wanting to have a longer outcome. In this way I was able to embrace the lack of control that can come with using a larger number of performers whilst still having that sense of interaction.
